Make sure you get a business license, tax id, and legal protection because you could lose your business and/or assets without insurance with even a stupid lawsuit. With that said, get a website and some business cards, talk to friends, look for engagement notices, give talks at libraries, attend trade shows, get a press release, etc. Do whatever it takes to reach the right people at the right time. Talk to related businesses about referring you… seamstresses, tux rental companies, florists, and bridal registry companies can be great sources of leads for you… and for you to refer to them.

What are the requirements for a wedding?

You’d probably have to contact them directly to find out, but here’s a site I found with info about the Convent.

i went to spain a couple of years back and on our last day there we noticed a sign for weddings abroad and it gave me and my boyfriend the idea. we have booked up for marmaris, turkey, next year and im wondering if i could just go and find someone to marry us. we just want to go, find someone and get married. do you need special papers etc to do it? do i need to do anything in the uk before hand? we dont want to go through the travel agent because it costs too much.

Hi Jemma,

Turkey’s a great place to get married – if you want some help with the organisation you can hire a wedding coordinator in resort who will be able to make sure everything goes to plan, and it’s not expensive either.

This wedding planner might be able to help you sort out the paperwork http://www.marryabroad.co.uk/country_details.php?country_id=5, and all the legalities are on this page too.

Have a great wedding, I’m sure you will have the time of your life!

There seems to be a trend in people getting married overseas nowadays-usually in a Caribbean destination. My aunt is attending one this week. While she didn’t mind paying her fare, etc., it got me thinking about whether or not it is selfish of the couple getting married to plan an overseas wedding and invite people, knowing that those who can’t get out of it will have to pay for the flight, accomodation, transport and all the other expenses that go along with a wedding-gift, hair, etc. Your thoughts-for, against or indifferent????
I’m not making a statement either way. I’d just like to know how others feel about this.

Hallelujah to this question! I am so peeved by this trend of destination weddings. They are for celebrities, people who would be so overwhelmed by paparazzi by having the wedding in the bride’s home town, or some other reasonable location, that they choose to have it in a remote location that is difficult for nearly everyone to reach. The problem is that this trend is being embraced by the general populace, who are not able to finance the travel plans of their 180 guests. Hence, the guests are made to feel like inadequate fuddy-duddies for not spending thousands of dollars to be an ornament at someone’s dream-location wedding. It is a very rude thing to put one’s guests in this kind of a fix. Furthermore, a couple without the testicular fortitude to simply elope to a groovy destination that they love without all the guests in tow does not deserve to have these guests even attend their ceremony. Glorious Caribbean islands should be visited on one’s honeymoon, not during the ceremony. My goodness, I could write a bloody book on this topic!

I have heard good and bad stories about Destination weddings. I do not want the bad to happen to me. Does anyone know where to look for TRUE destination wedding reviews? Real people who have real opinions? We are mostly interested within the United States, so we don’t have to worry about passports.

I live in the US and we’ve considered the Virgin Islands…

Any other suggestions?

google?

i too have heard good and bad about destination weddings.
people get annoyed about having to fly those places, and alot of them wont do it. I suggest having a wedding that everyone can easily come too.

I’m having an inside wedding, no matter what. What is a good fabric/style to go with? Are the lace dresses really more for outdoor/beach weddings??

No, they are definitely not just for beach weddings. Lace dresses are classic and feminine without being sparkly. And lace dresses come in all different types of cuts and silhouettes. It’s really just whatever looks best on your figure and fits the style wedding you are having.

*EDIT: Here are a few links to pictures of lace wedding dresses that would work great for an indoor wedding, just to give you an idea:

This isn’t technically in LA county it’s in Chino, it’s called "El Prado Golf Course", I helped plan a wedding there, it was about $3,500 for 100 guest to eat at the reception that included a lot of stuff like the tables & chairs, some linens, dance floor, Champagne or apple cider toasts, unlimited coffee, punch, ice tee, & water for guests, security, there was more i just can’t remember.

You could also have the ceremony there for less than a $800 that included an arch, the white chairs, white aisle runner, & a bridal dressing room. The food was great, the staff was helpful & the price was right for us. Hope this helps good luck!!!

plz help! looking for a really inexpensive way to get married without going to city hall or vegas!

I want to become a photogragher and shoot weddings, families, and babies. But I want to buy a camera before I take classes.

The Canon Rebel XTi is a good entry level DSLR. I’ve had mine for 2 1/2 years and I definately recommend it.

Friends forever, Kristen and Alexander are finally together and tying the Knot in their favorite city, Chicago.
