I am looking to get married on a small, private beach in Connecticut in June of 2008. Has anyone ever had one or heard anything about them? Are they truly magical or are they more work than they’re worth? Please help me. We’re sending out invites soon and I’d like to tell people where it’s going to be.

I live in New England and New England can be very rainy during the month of June but the upside is it is not as hot and muggy as July or August. I live in Maine and alot of people I know that have outdoor weddings in the summer check out farmers almanac to see what they predict for the weather. So far they all have had succesful unrainy weddings. I know some people may think Farmers almanac a joke but it is pretty acurate. It wouldn’t hurt to spend a few bucks to get one and pick your date according to that.

I’m sure they’d be nice as long as it is not windy or cold.

I think a beach marriage sounds lovely, appart from the fact of possible rain and sand in your shoes. The advantage of a wedding being held at a church or an inside auditorium is that rain and sand shouldn’t be an issue, but if all goes well it should be a fairy tale wedding.

Congrats and hope that all happens smoothly!

Had a look to see the average weather for Conneticut in June and on average you should have a warm month to get married! So I wouldn’t worry too much about the weather.

A beach wedding can be a magical but worth thinking about older relatives who may not be too comfortable on the beach and maybe provide deckchairs for them to sit on.

There are lots of positives …
By having your wedding on a beach you do not need to decorate as the place will be naturally beautiful, dress code would probably be best to be less formal and you have a stunning backdrop to your wedding photos.

When choosing your wedding dress it would be best to avoid a floor length dress as this will get wet and dirty very quckly on the sand.

I am sure you will have a beautiful day and if you want more ideas take a look at the link below for ways to save money on your beach wedding.

Personally I do not like outdoor weddings. You spend all that money on hair and shoes and they’re ruined before the ceremony is even over. It’s hard to walk in sand, it’s even harder to walk on a runner over sand. The temperature is totally unpredictable. The list goes on. I have been to a couple of outdoor weddings and they were nice, but most people were really uncomfortable. I advise going to this beach every weekend in June this month and seeing what the weather is like. How do you feel about being out ther in a gown or a tux?

Also, you shouldn’t be sending out the invites until April 2008. Invitations are sent 6-8 weeks in advance of the wedding. No one will remember that is wedding is whole year away and the invitations will get lost. I know this is the most important day ever to you, but it’s not to everyone else. You can send out save the date cards now, but you don’t need to put all the details on that, just the date. Good luck and have fun whatever you decide to do.
