Make sure you get a business license, tax id, and legal protection because you could lose your business and/or assets without insurance with even a stupid lawsuit. With that said, get a website and some business cards, talk to friends, look for engagement notices, give talks at libraries, attend trade shows, get a press release, etc. Do whatever it takes to reach the right people at the right time. Talk to related businesses about referring you… seamstresses, tux rental companies, florists, and bridal registry companies can be great sources of leads for you… and for you to refer to them.
