Hi
I am getting married abroad next year in Cuba and for 2 weeks all inclusive and the wedding package its just over £4,300.
I must warn you though it can sometimes be more hassle from family/friends to go abroad (they keep asking us why we couldn’t just have it here). Can I also ask if you’ve talked to your daughter about this as it is HER wedding at the end of the day and she might not be as keen as you, or her partners family (the cost of travel will come into it for everyone attending).
Remember, weddings are stressful but let your daughter do what makes her happy, not everyone else.

Hiya
I’m getting married in Kenya next year and it’s costing us £2,000 to get there and £700 for the wedding 2 weeks all inclusive. We get the photos cake champers and a choir included in the price, the video of the day is extra at £140 but that’s the only extra we have to pay for.
Through getting married abroad we have fallen out with my partners family (i wont lose no sleep over it though) they asked us…. well told us…. if we had thought of them on our big day we would have had it in this country…… to which i said if they wanted to chip in and help pay for the cost then they have a say in it all, but until then they can go away in short jerky movements!!!!!!!! £2,700 to get married in a lovely tropical country or £20,000 to keep family happy…. no contest really is it?
It is up to your daughter what she thinks about it all re: getting wed abroad etc but i would say go for it, at a time like this you really do find out who true friends and reliable family members are.
Good luck with it all.

You can get married in a church in Cyprus. I did get married there, but it was 10 years ago and you could only have a registry marriage then. It was wonderful though, and a lot cheaper. We chose a local taverna for the reception, only 10 people. The taverna usually only opened for evenings, but they opened specially for us for our reception.
We did wedding invitations much earlier than normal (maybe 6 months early) and just said we were marrying in Cyprus and would be happy if they were able to join us, but of course understood if they could not. Strangely enough, an elderly couple who we had become friendly with made the trip, whereas out of my family only my parents came!
I would recommend that you organise it all through the holiday company. We went with First Choice then, and it was very easy. If you ask at a travel agents, they will be able to cost it all out for you.
Our costs ten years ago were: car £37 + £13 for bridal ribbon on front of car; 36 photos + album £172; video £140; single tier cake £36; wedding administration fees £110. I also had a posy of carnations for £25 but regret that as colour wasn’t as expected. I think we paid about £100 in total for our reception, for the ten people. That included lots of drink. Being regular visitors to Cyprus I think you ought to be able to strike a deal with a restaurant if you are bringing 30 guests to them during the daytime. Don’t assume they will close to other people though. In any case, I think it would be lovely as passers by wish you well – they are so friendly there.
The day after we arrived we had a meeting with the wedding coordinator, and we had to go to sign some paperwork at the town hall but a taxi took us there and back.
The only other thing we needed to do was get a legal affidavit at a solicitors in the UK to say we were both free to marry, I think that was about £15 each.
I would definately recommend arranging it via one of the major tour operators as it takes away all the stress, and you know that all the legal stuff is taken care of.
We stayed in a different hotel from our other guests, so we still had a ‘honeymoon’, as they could still have their holiday. It worked out very nicely: we met up on some days but still had romantic days just the 2 of us.
A word of warning: if you take bridal headdress/artificial flowers with you put them in something easy to open. My mum took mine as handluggage and it looked like a bomb (huge mass of wires) on the security scanner. She had to do some unpacking and explaining at the airport!
Hope that helps!
EDIT: just found weblink for First Choice weddings

You can order an online brochure which has got a lot of the prices listed now. The basic marriage licence is now around £200, but church is more. I’d guess a wedding cake would be around £25 – £50 if you ordered one privately through Zorbas bakery (a chain of bakery stores in Cyprus) as we paid about £20 for a very busily decorated Barbie birthday cake there last year.
